PLEASE NOTE – You will be working in a gang of two. The pay range for the week will be split between both candidates.

Department Overview

  • As a Tipper Driver you will be deployed on our Network Repair and Maintenance contract know as the Openreach Service Agreement (OSA).
  • These works are fast reactive works usually requiring rapid deployment.
  • You will be deployed across our Service Repair and Urgent Related Safety tasks with a key focus on quick deployment.
  • Service Repair tasks focus customers that are currently out of service and we have 3 business days to complete the civils activity to enable the customer to get back into service.
  • Urgent Related Safety (URS) task focus on reports that existing Openreach apparatus is defective and is causing a urgent safety issue within the network of which we have 8 business days to resolve.

Job Summary

  • As a Tipper Driver you will be required to perform civils activities across the Midlands areas where you will be required to get customers back into service or remove what could be a potential safety issue within the network.
  • Your activities will take place within the public highway and customers premises using up to date client standard operating procedures and in full compliance to current legislation, health and safety requirements and company policies.
  • You will be a direct report to our civils supervisors.
  • You will have both dedicated in field support as well as a dedicated desk to assist with on the day queries and job allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide new installation and repair of network duct in soft, footway and carriageway surfaces.
  • Renew, replace raise and lower frame and covers in footway and carriageway surfaces.
  • Erect Street Cabinets.
  • Demolish, recover jointing chambers and street cabinets.
  • Construct jointing modular chambers.
  • Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker Plates / Mobiles Trailers, Trench Compactors and Mini Diggers.
  • Complete appropriate electronic paperwork for your daily works on job sheets, risk assessments, plant sheets and/or van sheets.
  • Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities.

Experience

  • Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry.
  • Hold the relevant tickets and qualifications required to work out on site.
  • Experience on the BT / Openreach network would be ideal but not essential.
  • Be willing to travel.

Skills

  • Excavation experience.
  • Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Reinstatement experience.
  • IT Literate as all works will be issued electronically.
  • Have a key focus on safety at all times.

Qualifications

  • NRSAW LA 1-9
  • SA006
  • K8
  • Q13, Q15, Q19, Q21, Q22, Q20, Q24 and Q25
  • Hold a 360-excavator operative’s licence
  • Hold a full UK driver’s licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points and no bans in the last 12 months.

Additional Information

  • Guarantee to earn £450 for 1st 4 weeks per person
  • Minimum of £75.00 per estimate per gang
  • Training provided £90.00 per day plus accommodation
  • Rate Card to be provided – Synthetics
  • Tipper Driver – fuel card must hold B&E licence
